Former Ambassador to Portugal Bob Sherman will travel across the South Coast on Monday to rally Portuguese community for Joe Kennedy III

Watertown, MA — On Monday, former Ambassador to Portugal Bob Sherman, a Boston-native, will hit the campaign trail to stump for Congressman Joe Kennedy III in his bid for U.S. Senate. Sherman served as the U.S. Ambassador to Portugal from 2013 to 2017 and will visit Portuguese communities in New Bedford and Fall River for Kennedy.

“There is far too much on the line –– both at home and abroad –– for us to send anything but a bold, committed leader to the U.S. Senate,” said Ambassador Bob Sherman. “I’ve known Joe for some time. I know that, like me, he is Massachusetts through and through. And I know that he is steadfast in his commitment to the people of this Commonwealth. He will be a champion for every single family in this state, and I know his voice will make this Commonwealth and our country proud every single day. I am looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm with voters today and encouraging folks to cast their September 1 vote for Joe Kennedy.”

Ambassador Sherman will visit Portugese-owned businesses in New Bedford, and will join former New Bedford Mayor Scott Lang, City Councilors Maria Giesta and Ian Abreu, and other community leaders at Europa Café for lunch. Ambassador Sherman will also visit Portugalia Marketplace and Portugalia Market in Fall River.

Health and safety are of the utmost importance to Congressman Kennedy and the Kennedy for MA campaign. All participants in Monday’s events are required to adhere to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including the wearing of face coverings.
